Everybody has a different need and use for facebook.  We have friends who look at Facebook as a place to contribute, me being one of those.  I rarely go two days in a row without making a post, and depending on what’s happening will generally make one to three posts in any given day.

We have those friends that once a week will make an appearance.  We have those that will raise your eyebrows when they click like on a post, and you say to yourself oh ya, I remember you.  They never say anything or make a post but they like to hit ‘like’ to let you know their around.

We have the ones who are in it for merely the games, I block the animals, the bad guys and the cafes so I don’t know too much about them.   We can’t forget those who hardly ever, if ever check-in.  For those that rarely check in it I believe it has more to do with access than anything else.

I would say about 25% of my friends are pretty active at making posts, 25% you’ll see something from once a week and the others fall into the sub categories.  One way or the other a lot more people contribute in different ways than what you think.  After all posting isn’t the only way to contribute.

I am always surprised when someone that I have as a friend will remark about a blog, or the fact that they enjoyed the restaurant that I had gone to.  While we would like everyone to participate in creating content on our wall, it’s just as important for people to act upon what is posted.  For as few people that read my blog, I would trade the fact that they don’t post for the fact that they read my blog.

The restaurant owner is happy that I raved about the dinner that I had there but he is also happy that my voyeur Facebook friend also went.  It takes all shapes and sizes to make this work, and I’m happy to have all my friends whether they’re active posters or not.  Sure in a perfect world everyone would help with the content but we all know that it’s far from a perfect world, but Facebook is still a cool place to be!
