What do the new changes to Facebook Timeline for Business Pages mean?
Maybe not as much as you think!! There is certainly some housekeeping that needs to be taken care of. There is the new cover image, the organizing of apps, timeline, pinning and starring, creating milestones, changing dates to posts, and the pretty sweet new admin panel. I wouldn’t be very good at what I do if I didn’t take the opportunity to plug our FREE Facebook Timeline for Business Pages Webinar on Thursday at 10a pacific where we will cover all of it in depth.
How can all these changes to the Facebook Timeline for Business Pages, outlined here by Mashable, not really mean that much? Most of what happens on Facebook happens in the newsfeed. Everyone will throw out some different numbers, but most of what I see and read says that over 80% of likes and comments take place in your newsfeed not on a business or person’s wall.
Access to Facebook analytics lets us know what engagement takes place with our posts. Did they click on the photo? Did they talk about you? How many unique visits to your wall were made? etc. In regards to how many unique visits to your Facebook wall our research with our clients shows that you’re much more likely to get someone to visit your website from Facebook than your business wall, about 3 to 1.
In most cases I would rather have them go to the website than the Facebook wall, more information. What interests me with the new Facebook pages is that the changes that are being made for the admins to create potentially more of a reason for people to click on their wall. If this is the case, will unique wall clicks increase? If so then this will be a good move, if not then page owners will be doing a lot of house cleaning that they will only see.
Facebook Timeline for Business Pages Better for Branding?
Can the Facebook Timeline for Business Pages layout become more appealing and click worthy? Can the large Timeline Cover Image become great for branding and help a business page place their branding front and center? Either way ‘All Pages’ will be forced to upgrade to Timeline on March 30, and one way or another, March 30th is going to be here quicker than what you think. So take the time to get to know that changes, and if you don’t have much time, you can always join us for our free webinar Thursday March 8th and then we’ll see what the new Facebook Timeline for Business Pages does for businesses over time.

Wow! this is a great deal using the face-book timeline for our business page. I never knew about this before. before I was thinking that face-book timeline is just letting us know the history of our profile since we started using this social media site. I never imagine that it has great benefit in our business, thanks for letting me know.

I agree this probably doesn’t mean too much. I used to get stressed out by the redesigns on social sites and Google etc but after a while I realized that it doesn’t need to cause much disruption. The new functionality is almost always better and saves me time in the long run so now I am very open to change! Thanks for sharing
True that Matt. The only thing that is permanent is change and after a while you just roll with it and pick better battles. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, truly appreciate it.
I think that this article is very interesting! And useful 🙂
I don’t like timeline on facebook, but I admit his utility for business.
Thank you!!!!
