A Cheat Sheet for Marketing in 2015.
There are plenty of solutions out there for local marketing. The following is a short list of some ways to do some easy local marketing in 2015.
Social Media – Twitter
Social media is the easiest way to market yourself on any level. It really helps with local businesses too. Get a Twitter account for your business and advertise it in the store or on a business card. Get people to follow you and interact with them if they ever tweet about you. It only takes an hour or so out of your day to check the Twitter feed. If it gets too much, or you’re not confident in your ability to manage the account, then consider hiring a social media manager.
Social Media – Facebook
There’s more social media outside of Twitter. Don’t neglect your Facebook presence either. It’s really simple to go on Facebook and make a page for your company. Advertise that along with your Twitter account and get people to “like” your page. Just don’t get too caught up with chasing likes and tweets. It can be a huge negative. Just interact with your customers and encourage them to talk about you on both Facebook and Twitter.
Meeting People
There’s no substitute for just meeting people in person. Get some business cards printed out and make it a goal to meet a certain number of people in a week. You can just be pumping gas or grocery shopping, or even just walking in the park. Introduce yourself to someone, strike up a conversation, and leave them your business card. If you take the time to talk to them properly then they’ll feel better about taking your card and probably even tell people about how they met a friendly local business owner.
Offering Discount Coupons
It’s not too difficult at all to get coupons printed for your business. You can hand them out in the store and you can also encourage people to hand them out by offering extra coupons. If you give people two coupons and tell them to hand one to a friend, then you have a free customer right there. Assuming that the customer complies of course. If every customer you have gives a coupon to a friend then you’ve just doubled your customer base right there. It’s a quick and simple method to really boost your business.
Craigslist
Craigslist is a website that lets people advertise pretty much everything, from products they’re selling personally to services they offer, to jobs as well. You can use it creatively to get some attention to your business outside of general advertising on there. For example; if you’re running a promotion then create an event on Craigslist and invite people in the local area on there. You can use the forums to talk about your business too. Consider it a kind of enhanced online presence and an online presence is key to simple advertising.
Whatever method of advertising you choose, remember that it’s never as difficult as you think it is.
