However, once you do figure out who would use your product, you can create more targeted marketing and greatly increase your sales. Whether it means considering the demographics of your audience or creating a profile, you need to know your shoppers. Here are a few tips on how to identify your target audience. Consider the Demographic Profile The demographic profile of your target audience includes age, gender, income, education, and martial status. This information gives you the best inside look at the people you are trying to attract. For example, if you were running a business that created covers for ereaders, your target audience may include women ages 20-35 who have an income of $40-50,000, have a bachelor’s degree, and are married with children. Targeting this specific set can make marketing much easier and more successful. Determine the Values and Lifestyle of the Audience The values and lifestyles of your audience include what they like to do in their spare time and how they feel about important issues. Drawing on the example above, the women you’re marketing to may be active women who believe in buying products that are eco-friendly. Think About How Your Audience Will Engage With Products and Services This is where you consider what your target audience would want from your product or service as well as how they would use it and what they would like or dislike about what you have to offer. For example, you might create a woman who has three children, works 40 hours a week from her home as a freelance writer, lives in a suburban area, has a bachelor’s degree in communications, and loves design with a passion. When you market, you’ll be marketing to this woman. A target audience is essential if you want to succeed. You simply can’t expect to market to everyone. With a target audience in mind, you can create the best advertisements for your business.

I think with latest updates by Google and its stress on the local keywords has made the things very easy. If you have some products that you want to sell then you can start off selling them locally. IF you have products that you think can sell good outside then if you can use Social Media, you cannot fail! finding the target audience using the social media is absolutely a must now a days! It is though not that easy, you need to have a proper campaign in your mind before starting with it, otherwise it will again become a useless campaign.
Hi hitting your target audience is what it is all about you could get a thousand hits to a site for instance. But if these people are not interested in the product you are trying to sell them. Then your conversion rate in to a profit is never going to happen. Reading about how social media is getting more and more relevant in this way has got me to look more into that way of thinking as I am a dinosaur as social media goes. The big problem is I have enough trouble keeping up with everything else let alone adding social media to my time scale as well.
