We are just days away from learning which Medford-area family will receive an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition transformation. The anticipation has been building for weeks, and the recent pep rally at South Medford High School — packed with nearly 800 people — showed just how powerful local community support can be when neighbors rally around a shared cause.

Businesses and individuals across Jackson and Josephine counties contributed supplies, services, and time to create an unforgettable night. With the big reveal set for September 7, excitement is only growing.

Local Community Support in Action

An account has been opened for the Extreme Makeover Family Fund at all PremierWest Bank locations, and bracelets are being sold for just $3, with every dollar going directly to the family selected for the build. At the same time, a growing number of businesses in Medford and Grants Pass are participating in the $1-per-like Facebook campaign. Many are nearing the halfway mark toward their 1,000-like goal, but they’ll need continued help from the community to unlock the full donation.

  • PremierWest Bank,
  • Airport Chevrolet,
  • Southern Oregon Subaru,
  • Dollar Buick GMC,
  • Spring Air Heating & Cooling,
  • InfoStructure,
  • Batzer Construction,
  • Black Rock Coffee Bar – Biddle Rd,
  • Grants Pass Heating & Air Conditioning,
  • Butler Automotive Group,
  • Fusion Dance Academy,
  • Northwest Community Credit Union,
  • Rogue Valley Country Club,
  • Taprock Northwest Grill – Grants Pass,
  • Angus Driving Service,
  • Gates Home Furnishings — donating an incredible $18,000 in furniture.

The Rogue Valley Association of Realtors has also contributed $1,000 to the Family/Build Fund. While they do not have a Facebook page to “like,” their website is worth a visit just to say thank you.

The Power of a Community Working Together

The Extreme Makeover Home Edition Jackson County Facebook page is nearing 3,000 likes — and may surpass that long before this publish button is pressed. Volunteers are still needed, and more businesses are expected to join the $1-per-like challenge as energy builds.

What’s happening in Southern Oregon these past weeks is more than a campaign. It’s a reminder of what happens when people and businesses lean into their shared values. When we show up for each other, generosity spreads. Momentum grows. Hope becomes tangible.

And that’s the very heart of local community support — showing up, together, for something that matters.
