The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on the previous 12 months and consider how new trends will impact your business. When we considered the biggest digital marketing trends from 2024, three topped our list. Here’s a brief look at some of the emerging trends we anticipate will impact advertising strategies over the coming year.

The 3 Biggest Digital Marketing Trends from 2024 on our Radar

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Wow, if two things really made a statement in 2024, those would have to be the integration of AI into our daily lives and the introduction of the Tesla truck. However, only the first will impact most of your business strategies. While some people fear what AI will do for impersonating individuals or degrading accurate information, AI has been evolving in various forms, like Google search and Siri/Alexa voice commands, for years. For digital marketers like Paradux Media, AI presents interesting challenges. For example, how will Google’s AI Overview (or Google SGE), now on most Google search results, alter consumers’ behaviors when seeking information on websites? At the same time, consumers can now choose between several AI inquiry models, like Chat-GPT, Bard, Gemini, or others, to quickly find answers. So far, it seems many consumers may use these models for basic information but distrust AI’s accuracy and continue to review detailed information on websites.

Short-Form Videos

Social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, have popularized short-form videos, making it the next on our list of the most influential digital marketing trends from 2024. The demographics of many companies’ customer bases are changing, and a younger population favors consuming information in 30-—to 45-second “reels” or short video segments. For example, social media posts in video format tend to have far greater reach and click-thru than traditional words and picture posts. Short-form videos are also popular on websites. Featuring beautiful drone footage of your location can bring instantaneous interest to the rest of the content on your web page. Instructional videos or product demonstrations show consumers accurate depictions of what to expect from their purchases. While professional video footage costs more to produce, it can have a significant positive impact on your traffic, sales, and revenue.

Data Privacy

As consumers increasingly use electronic channels to search for information, make inquiries, and purchase products, it’s not surprising that their concerns about keeping their information private and secure have grown accordingly. More companies are using cookie management programs (we have one available for our clients!) so their website visitors can select the level of privacy they desire. At the same time, as consumers decline cookies to keep their searches private, tracking their traffic on our clients’ websites is harder. We’ve seen traffic decline after implementing cookie management because Google cannot get enough information about these transactions to record them as sessions and views. Of course, this can also limit your ability to track user locations, interests, and other demographic information. In the end, providing cookie management is critical for building trust with your customer base.
