Why is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition such a big deal to Medford? Partly because it’s helping a family that has spent years paying it forward in our community. And partly because the show reaches nearly one billion viewers in more than 160 countries, offering Medford a chance to show the world what genuine local community pride looks like when a town comes together.
Southern Oregon has a long history of stepping up for one another. That spirit is clear in the businesses and individuals donating their time, materials, and money to help make this build possible.
Local Community Pride Takes on a New Challenge
The fundraising efforts for the Medford build have now grown into a spirited Green vs. Orange challenge — a friendly “Civil War” of Duck and Beaver pride. (Based on the name of our company, you can probably guess which color we’re cheering for.)
Organizers are even working — no promises — to see whether Ty Pennington might announce the winning color or wear something donated by the fans who contribute the most. It’s a fun idea, and a heartfelt one.
Donations for the Civil War Challenge can be made at any PremierWest Bank branch in Jackson or Josephine County, or at Airport Chevrolet–Cadillac. Just let them know which color you’re supporting. Green and orange receptacles will also be available at the Extreme Makeover build site for those stopping by to watch progress unfold. Every dollar goes directly to the Build Fund.
Join the Experience and Support the Build
If you’d like to visit the site, shuttles run every 30 minutes from the Medford Wal-Mart off Hwy 62. Spectators are encouraged to bring canned or nonperishable food to benefit the ACCESS Food Share Pantry Network, which supports 25 local pantries.
This is local community pride at its most energized — Ducks, Beavers, businesses, neighbors, and families, all united around a cause bigger than any rivalry.
No donation is too big or too small. This is about showing what can happen when a community stands together and lets generosity lead. And for today…
Go Ducks. 🙂
