Social Media can Change the World:

We’re starting to see that social media really can change the world.  The Egyptian uprising was accelerated by social media and posting on Facebook and Twitter…

We have also seen and felt how social media can create a new economy, books speaking engagements, in essence a new business category.  2011 is the year that we have really seen that social media CAN change the world.

Buy Local:

The local trend continued in 2011, but one look at the parking lot of Wal-Mart or Costco will tell you it still has a ways to go until it becomes much more mainstream.

On a personal note we found that we were able to prepare our Thanksgiving meal without opening one single can.  We used only two products that weren’t raised or grown in  our area, and opened only one package of a processed food (marshmallows).  It wasn’t a goal of ours, it just happened.  It comes with just making small changes in how and who you choose to buy your products from.

Entrepreneur:

WordPress has made starting your own business much easier than a getting a small business loan from the SBA.  Nothing strengthens the economy more than business ownership.  With affordable and easy to maintain and update websites becoming more mainstream and google becoming the yellow pages we’re seeing more and more home offices.

Buzz words good and bad from 2011:

Engagement, Content marketing, SEO, QR Code, Check-In, Google +, Occupy, The 99%, 1%, Gamification.

For us at Paradux:

2011 was a great year.  It was a record year of production for Paradux and we were fortunate enough to have some good hires including our fantastic graphic designer Kelly Congelton and our stellar admin assistant Jaime Russell.

2012 is already off to a great start with some fun and exciting projects already in our queue.  We are very lucky in we’re doing what we truly enjoy doing with clients who are more than clients, they’re friends, to have a staff that is as much family as they are employees.

I would like to wish all of you the happiest of holidays and a very prosperous new year.
