Is it about getting people to ‘like’ your page, ‘like’ posts, comment on posts, drive traffic to your website, visibility, likeability,

engagement, awareness, promote products, sell products or services, expert status, public relations, customer feedback, to make money?  Your answer is probably yes, yes all of that.  If done right you can create a relationship that can lead to being able to do all of these things, but not by trying to do all of those things, make sense?

Let’s look and define a Facebook strategy for small local business, strategies are not one size fits all, this is using an imaginary brand that I have in my head.  Think of your business or brand and how it might relate as we go through these steps.

  • Get Clear on Your ‘Voice’ and Brand Image before ever building a Facebook page, you need to clarify what you want your Local Business ‘Voice’ & Image to be.  We like to think, if these walls could talk what would they say, or you could use a brand or service.
  • What Are Your Business Goals?  Clarify 1 to 2 goals that are important to you:  Look at the above list and pick one or two that you’d like to tackle first, don’t try to conquer the world, prioritize and be selective.
  • Research your competitors, your industry and beyond – to investigate for ideas, campaigns and social innovations that are proven.  When tailored, these will also work for your business.  Take advantage and use what others have learned.  Combine these with your new ideas and personality and you’ll be just fine.  The best social campaigns are improvements on what’s gone before.
  • Prepare your business and employees for social media.  Before you run any social engagement strategy, you will need to ensure that your business and its people are ready and aware.  So think about developing a social policy and crisis management plan and team.  You will also need to ensure that people have the necessary knowledge and skills to execute your strategy.
  • Who’s your target audience?  Existing customers, are you targeting leads?  Peers?  Experts? Identify your target audience so you can then build your voice to support that specific audience.
  • What Topics Are Important and Will Grab Your Target Market?  Content that will grab the target audience you’ve identified.  The content you create will largely represent your voice, but will also need to also represent your vision and mission

I started my personal Facebook page about three years ago, and since then I have experimented with it just to know the tricks behind FB. Now I am ready to start my company FB page and this advice came at the right moment. Now I have to think more about the design, then about content.

It is a very good article on Facebook Marketing and its related field. I have to join some trick of mine too here for reachablity. If you share any link with photo you get more reach as compared to share link only on your Facebook wall post. If you have reachability count, then you can see the difference by adding same content in two different format. Thanks…
