As a small business owner how people feel about you, what they are saying and their perception of you is critical to any growth you’d like to see as a business owner.

In all my years of marketing I’ve found the greatest RISK in marketing lies in dealing with OPINION instead of fact.

A good survey allows you to be in communication with your customer.  While social media allows for feedback, you’re typically only going to get those who have a stronger emotional connection with your product or industry, which will provide feedback.

There is also a certain accountability and reasonable judgment through social media that you won’t find in an anonymous survey.

Online surveys can measure customer service satisfaction levels and identify weaknesses and strengths in your strategy or processes.  Evaluate attitudes of customers (are they fatigued?), clients (are they optimistic?), and employees (are they disgruntled?)

They can reveal how the market feels about your competitor’s products and positioning. Can measure the effectiveness or emotional impact of a message to an audience.

What websites is your target market visiting? How often? What other media are they consuming? How frequently and at what time?

Online surveys show your clients, customers, and employees that you care about what they think and that you are prepared and interested in listening.
